MCI Introducing Big Improvements for 2023

2022 MCI champs KJ Ofahengaue and Alona Avery with Cameron Champ.

The Mack Champ Invitational is introducing significant changes in 2023 that will give our junior golfers even more opportunities to shine.

We are creating a separate girls’ event in April that will be played at the site of The Chevron Championship, the first major of the LPGA Tour season. Our boys’ event is adding a third round, which means players can earn World Amateur Golf Ranking points, a first for the MCI.

Turf Pros Volunteering for ‘Field Day’ at Foothill

Sierra Nevada GSCAA logo and partners

The Sierra Nevada Chapter of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America is sending volunteers from all over Northern California and Nevada to Foothill Golf Course for a “field day” this Monday, Oct. 24.

The Sierra Nevada Chapter and its members are donating equipment, labor, and products to help improve the turf surfaces at Foothill through the aerification of greens, tees, and fairways, as well as overseeding teeing surfaces and applying nutrients to the entire course.

The Sierra Nevada Chapter of the GCSA is made up of golf course superintendents, assistant golf course superintendents, equipment managers, greenkeepers, and affiliates of the golf industry who are dedicated to advancing the golf profession, promoting the growth of the game through inclusion and diversity, and thereby improving communities through the vitality of the game of golf.

The field day will be an annual event, which over time will help promote sustainability and environmentalism at Foothill, which serves as home base for the Cameron Champ Foundation.

We owe a huge thanks to the local golf courses, private clubs and vendors who have shown their support for Foothill Golf Course and the Cameron Champ Foundation!

Foundation Golf Festival Brings Local Youth to Foothill Golf Course

On Saturday, Oct. 1, we hosted more than 90 local kids for a golf festival at Foothill Golf Course.

They came in two waves from some of our favorite local nonprofit partners, the Ticket to Dream Foundation and City Life Sayonara Center. The kids practiced their golf skills, played the course, shared laughs with friends and mentors, and even got a new pair of shoes from our friends at BEARPAW.

What a great day! Thanks to all of the sponsors and volunteers who made this great event possible.

Pro-Am Raises Over $400,000 to Support Foundation Programs

The Cameron Champ Foundation Pro-Am at the 2022 Fortinet Championship was a tremendous success, with 108 players coming together to raise more than $400,000.

That money will support our foundation’s programs for young people from diverse backgrounds, including college scholarships, the Mack Champ Invitational, STEM education initiatives and more.

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Fortinet for hosting our outing for the second consecutive year at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, where Cameron earned his second PGA Tour victory in 2019. And it was great to see so many of our generous supporters come together for such a fun-filled day. Marlon Jones and Jayden Lizama, local junior players and Mack Champ Invitational veterans, were also on the course.
